Move Beyond Grief!

January 27, 2012  |  Change Your Life  |  No Comments  |  Share

I interviewed inspirational Big Leaper Tabitha Jayne last week on her new book Thriving Loss: Move Beyond Grief to a place of Passion, Peace and Purpose.

Tabitha walks her talk. She lost her brother in a tragic accident and has used this tragedy to transform her loss and life.

I have learnt so much from Tabitha reading her book on the new research on grief and how to handle it (and there is startling new evidence). Her book is wise, inspirational and transformational.

25 years have passed since losing my own parents and had been in tears the morning I interviewed Tabitha and in 30 short minutes, she gave me at least five ways to transform my sadness into a new way of creating a relationship with them, even though they were no longer physically with me.

If you have lost someone recently – or even a long time ago, I fully recommend Tabitha’s work. Just wonderful!

CREATIVITY is my theme for 2012 and my big goal for this year is to finish my screenplay and my novel and if possible, get a deal for both. January 6, 2012  |  Change Your Life, Martha Beck, Psychologies magazine, Suzy Greaves  |  Comments Off  |  Share

I’ve written an article in Psychologies magazine this month about ‘finding your tribe.’  Once again, I had the privilege of interviewing the fabulous Martha Beck, Oprah’s favourite life coach about her book: ‘Finding Your Way in a Wild New World: Four Steps to Fulfilling Your True Calling’ (Piatkus.)

(A brilliant book – her best yet – it’s full of magic and mystery and belly laughs – and explains why meeting a rhinoceros will quite literally heal your life.)

I interviewed Martha about the importance of ‘finding your tribe’ – and why it’s so important.

(I will be allowed to release the interview with Martha at the end of January – which I will share with you then)

Emotionally, says Martha, connecting to your tribe can feel like a revelation.”Because our culture has traditionally been so conformist, we sometimes repress our hidden yearnings and then feel trapped with certain groups of people who don’t share our values or communicate how they really feel – be it at work, socially or the school gate. It can make us feel very alone, isolated – and a little bit odd.”

I found myself nodding enthusiastically at this point. I was always the odd one out at school, at work, at parties. People thought I was eccentric, or just downright weird. It wasn’t until I started my own Big Leap Tribe – that I realised how fabulous it is to be surrounded by free-thinking – call it eccentric if you wish – creative, optimistic people. I came to understand my Big Leap tribe and the values we live and belief systems we live within help me to get to where I want to go because  they are – what Julia Cameron calls -  my ‘believing mirror’. I talk to Big Leapers every day who make things happen.  Everything that they do or say gives me one more piece of evidence that we can achieve whatever we put our minds to, that the impossible is not so impossible to achieve. And even better, you can have fun creating the life you really want.

Psychologies kindly invited to be part of their Make It Happen event on 9th February in Cavendish Square London. I will speaking along side Lucy Beresford Psychologies advice columnist, Jules Evans, philopher and author of Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations and Jane de Teliga, a fashion journalist, stylist and lecturer, who in her fifties, left Australia and her adult children to make a new life in London and is writing a book about her life changing experience.

Louise Chunn, editor, will be discussing the best ways to achieve your goals, not matter how big or small. We’re going to be learning how to master motivation, and beat procrastination and tackle the hurdles you face on your journey. There will be workshops and group sessions with all the speakers too.

As well – as wine, nibbles, and a fantastic goodie bag!!

I’m offering a free ticket to anyone who joins our Big Life tribe: Our Big Life in the next 7 days. (Psychologies are holding on to a handful of tickets for me just for the week – the event is 75% sold out already).

Our Big Life is the inner circle of the Big Leap community. It’s our Big Leap Tribe! When you join, you gain access to:

  • 52 week online Big Leap coaching programme.
  • Free Access to the 21 Big Leap Challenge – create an impossible challenge and leap out of your comfort zone in 21 days.  (You can repeat this throughout the year at no extra charge)
  • Access to 60 hours of ‘How to interviews’ with world-leading experts.
  • Access to members-only Big Leap community.
  • Mp3 of the Making The Big Leap into the Big Peace recording with world-renowned hypnotherapist Georgia Foster.
  • Invitations to take part in VIP online coaching teleclasses – for free.

Find your Moxie!

January 3, 2012  |  Change Your Life  |  Comments Off  |  Share

Apparently it’s the most depressing day of the year. Great!

To inspire you, here’s a great video on how to find your ‘moxie.’ Filmaker Tiffany Shlain urged graduates to take risks and tackle challenges in life with “moxie — a mixture of being bold, fearless and a little outrageous.”

Honored by Newsweek as one of the “Women Shaping the 21st Century,” Tiffany Shlain is an acclaimed filmmaker, artist, founder of The Webby Awards, co-founder of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute.
